Unforgettable experiences to make your stay more memorable (just ask our concierge).
1. First of all, obviously, is staying at the Bellevue Syrene!
The hotel overlooking the sea, with its view of Vesuvius, is a worthy destination in itself. It stands on the remains of an ancient imperial villa and preserves traces of its illustrious past, offering guests something unique. From the terrace of the Villa Pompeiiana, an almost perfect reconstruction of the House of the Vettii in Pompeii, you can see remains of the Roman fishpond which the grandson of Emperor Augustus took delight in!
2. A visit to the Baths of Queen Joanna.
According to the legend, Queen Joanna of Anjou used to bathe in the pool nestling among these cliffs in a way that scandalised people! The reality is that this place represents a natural and historical treasure. On the cliffs stand the remains of the sumptuous Roman villa of Pollio Felice.
3. A boat trip.
The Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast can be seen at their most beautiful from the sea… And taking a dip in the sea off the island of Capri, in the shadow of the Faraglioni rocks is an experience not to be missed.
4. Aperitifs with a view of Vesuvius.
Bellevue Syrene’s terrace overlooking the sea is the perfect place for aperitifs, and from there you can watch the lights of the Gulf coming on as the twilight deepens. Our bartender has a true passion for mixology and loves experimenting, but he also makes the classic long drinks and most popular cocktails.
5. Dinner beneath the stars.
It’s a romantic must-do, and of course Sorrento is truly the city of love. Our Neapolitan dishes will tantalise all your senses, with scents, colours and textures that tell the story of a sea-loving people.
6. Sampling typical regional produce.
The Sorrento Peninsula has the great advantage of being located between the mountains and the sea. Although fresh fish always features on the menu, the gifts that the fertile, generous volcanic earth bestows on this area should not be underestimated. Excellent cheeses from the region, such as Provolone del Monaco are produced on the Monti Lattari. And the region of Campania has a very long history of wine production, and currently boasts 15 DOCs and 4 DOCGs, in addition to 10 IGPs.
It needs no introductions, it’s the icon of Naples, of Campania, of Italy. But with the extra virgin olive oil from the region, our tomatoes, our basil and above all our Mozzarella Campana, our pizza has a unique flavour.
8. Archaeology Tour along the Gulf of Naples.
It’s not just Pompeii. The whole Gulf of Naples is dotted with fascinating archaeological sites. Ercolano, a city buzzing with life, was taken by surprise, just like its neighbour Pompeii by the eruption of Vesuvius. Oplontis, with its marvellous Villa of Poppaea, and the Villas at Stabia, with their sophisticated wall paintings. Even at the Bellevue Syrene you can literally stroll through time. The footpath that leads to the beach, carved out of the rock, is the original Roman passageway, that led to the sea from the villa. The tunnel has had many different uses over the centuries, which have left visible traces all along the rock walls in the form of inscriptions from different eras.
This is the famous lemon liqueur of Sorrento. Countless imitations of it exist, but the original is made with the inimitable Sorrentine citrus fruit, nourished by the water and sun of the South. At the Bellevue we serve the renowned Piemme Limoncello, made by the historical producer of the liqueur, which protects and preserves the traditional recipe.
10. Plan the next trip!
